I'm M. Marie Walker—a 50-year-old multi-genre author, a reclusive Detroit introvert, and married eighteen years to my complete opposite, who supports my storytelling journey through every late-night writing sprint.
My daily routine is fueled by caramel macchiatos, die-hard loyalty to the Detroit Lions, and the quiet company of Caesar, the Chorkie monarch of my couch who growls at anyone foolish enough to interrupt my writing flow. Raised on Marvel movies and Motown ghosts, I turned sixteen and made a conscious choice: trauma could sound beautiful, and pain could be transformed into art.
Without a traditional journalism or literature degree, I earned a creative writing certificate, graduating top of my class. My family recognized my spark early on, pushing me to take my work seriously.
What started at age seventeen as horror fiction written purely for fun evolved over two decades into intense drama, leading to my debut novel, My House. Now, over thirty years into my literary journey, I bring decades of lived experience, emotional insight, and genre versatility to every world I build.
Finding My Drama Voice
I started as a Detroit teenager scribbling horror stories, teaching myself craft before earning a creative writing certificate, proving my voice could stand strong without a traditional journalism or writing degree.
Over years those early pages shifted into raw contemporary drama, eventually becoming My House. Family encouragement turned quiet notebooks into a first published novel and pushed me toward a real author journey.
Three decades later I write through three personas, weaving contemporary drama, prophetic fiction, and dark thrillers into one universe. Every book carries lived experience, emotional honesty, and an open invitation to keep exploring.
